About Us

The Oneonta Free Clinic is a community based organization designed to provide free health services to the uninsured and other designated patient populations in Oneonta and the surrounding communities of Otsego and Delaware Counties. This organization is in the development phase and you are invited to participate in the founding and operation of the Free Clinic.

Founding Board

The Unitarian Universalist Society of Oneonta has been working since 2004 to study the feasibility of a free clinic in the Oneonta area. Recently, a Founding Board has been assembled to carry out the work necessary to make the Clinic a reality. The Board consists of the following community members:

  • Sharon D. Dettenrieder MSN, RN - Professor of Nursing (Chair), Hartwick College
  • Benjamin Friedell M.D. – Physician at FoxCare
  • Sue Harris LPN - Nurse at Springbrook
  • Marie Lusins - Community Advocate
  • Dan Maskin – Executive Director, Opportunities for Otsego
  • Allan Schramm LCSW - Medical Social Worker, Retired
  • Grace Smith – Real Estate Broker, Retired
  • Kay Stuligross - League of Women Voters
  • Rev. Judith A. Thistle M.DIV. - Director of Chaplaincy, Fox Hospital

Privacy Pledge

The Board and Staff of the Oneonta Free Clinic are dedicated to maintaining the privacy of the patients served by the Clinic. Medical care is provided at the highest levels of confidentiality. Medical information is not released nor sought without the expressed consent of the patient.
